One Year of Trade. One Bold Mission.

When we opened our doors a year ago, we weren’t looking to build another payment platform. We set out to do something far more ambitious — to power real trade in Nigeria.

And on July 4, 2025, we gathered our team, partners, and press for the first-ever Transactpay NEXT event. Not to launch new tools (that came later), but to reflect. To pause and say: look how far we’ve come.

Our highlight reel, unveiled at the event, captured our story — not just in features, but in faces. Not just in numbers, but in meaning. This post is an extension of that moment, a look back at one of the boldest, most meaningful years of our lives.

Built for Trade, Not Just Transactions

In a space where many build with payment in mind, we built with trade at heart. Because trade is what feeds families. It’s what keeps businesses alive. It’s what grows a nation.

Payment is just one part of that journey — the final step.
But everything before that, showcasing your products, retaining your customers, building trust, is where businesses truly grow.

So that’s what we built.

What the First Year Looked Like

Here are just some of the milestones that defined our first twelve months:

✅ A Simpler Way to Get Paid

Our CheckoutInvoices, and Payment Links gave SMEs a fast, professional way to collect payments online. From WhatsApp to websites, we helped vendors receive payments with less friction.

✅ Free Online Stores for Every Vendor

With Transactpay Catalog, we gave merchants their own professional product pages — for free. Think of it like a Shopify built for WhatsApp sellers, but made for the Nigerian market.

✅ Building Trust in Every Transaction

Transactpay Trust helped buyers check out in one click. Verified businesses, confirmed payments, and frictionless recurring payments.

✅ Retaining Customers, Not Just Getting Paid

With Tribe, we helped merchants go beyond first-time sales. They could reward loyalty, encourage repeat business, and build stronger customer relationships.

✅ Listening, Always Listening

From our Customer Support Week partnership with Ekesons to every call, chat, and email, our goal was to never let a merchant feel alone. We backed this up with 24/7 support — responsive, empathetic, and always in context.

The Highlight Reel: More Than Just Moments

The video we played at Transactpay NEXT wasn’t a hype reel. It was a reminder.

A reminder of:

  • The corn seller in Abuja who no longer needs to call out her account number mid-sale.
  • The hair vendor in Aba who turned her DMs into a full online store in minutes.
  • The small team in Lagos managing orders, customer lists, and returns — all with tools we provided.

It reminded us that we’re not just building a platform.
We’re building possibility.
We’re helping people move forward.

The Heart of It All

We didn’t get here by chasing trends or copying models.

We got here by staying close to the ground.
Listening. Iterating. Obsessing over the problems that slow Nigerian businesses down.

And the biggest thing we’ve learned?
Trade will always find a way.
Our job is to make that way faster, simpler, and more dignified.

Looking Ahead

This post isn’t a wrap-up. It’s a thank-you.
To our team.
To our merchants.
To our partners.
To every person who made the first year not just possible — but powerful.

And while this reflection doesn’t cover what we launched at Transactpay NEXT (that deserves its own post), it sets the stage.

Because if our first year was about building the foundation, everything from here is about acceleration.

We’re here. We’re ready. We’re not going anywhere.
